equipment was called in for three fire stations. no reports of anyone getting hurt. >> there's been another fire in a squatters' camp in san jose. neighbors say the camp near coyote creek has been a problem for a long time. >> you can see from our live shot just how dry the grass is already. here is a series of homes and on this side, open space and a series of homeless encampments. the fire is still under investigation and no one knows how it started. the fire started around 1130 in a wooded brushy area between coyote creek, kelley park, and neighborhood homes >> i saw a small fire beginning but it spread fast

>> it burned about 1 a. and for a time it threatened homes before fire crews brought it under control. nobody knows how it is started but it is considered suspicious >> it is under investigation. the area is known for having some homeless encampments so we will follow-up and figure out what happened >> neighbors have been complaining about the camps for years. there are 60 camps in san jose housing an estimated 600-900 people. some live out of vehicles while others build elaborate shelters complete with vegetable or ornamental gardens. there have been burglaries' and in the past month there have been two fires. although they have not been very big neighbors worried is just a matter of time >> there are some probably a couple hundred feet from our doors and they frequently build fires all times of the day or night and trolls so it is really

concerned >> over the next five weeks there will be some homeless camp cleanups. there will be one starting in the communications hill area of san jose where there are homeless encampments. there is a lot of work to be done and the city council member for this part of san jose is requesting $150,000 in these tight budgetary times to devote to help clean up the area. one of the biggest issues is what to do with all the things the homeless do. they cannot just throw them away, they have to go into the stores said that creates a different kind of complications. >> at a time when many cities are deeply in debt, san francisco is on a spending spree. the mayor announced the long- term public safety hiring plan that includes six police academies. that means 300 new officers,

law that allowed the cities towing company to auction off his car without telling him >> if it is valued at $4,000 or less they do not need to notify you that they're selling your car >> technically they and auction off your car after three days but michael's car was not totally for unpaid tickets or illegal parking, it was stolen and then recovered and then towed here to where the car theft victim says she was victimized again when he was asked to pay $500 to get his stolen car back shortly after it was towed there >> i didn't know what condition my car was in so why was not willing to take the leap of faith and a money with the chance that would not be able to drive the car off a lot >> so he says he temporarily left his car and followed the instructions to contest the feet but he says no one ever answered the phone line or responded to his written request. >> i have heard of this from other people who can't get

updated version of the application. >> we have hot stuff coming our way. we will enjoy a lot of sunshine outside today. we saw temperatures warm up outside today with patchy fog towards the media coastline. skies are starting to clear out even towards the beaches. just a thin layer of fog there. maybe just a couple of patches of fog inside the bay while the valleys tonight are staying mostly clear. overnight lows in the 40's and '50's. we will see these temperatures cranked up into the 90s in some spots. we will see '70s and '80s inside the bay while out on the coastline, almost 30 degrees cooler in spots. outside right now, overlooking russian hill, a little bit of haze out there but otherwise

looking good into the evening hours. temperatures are still warm in winter. 84 in livermore and 76 degrees in san jose. if you're traveling around the state we have hot weather. triple digits for the first time this year in redding. 98 in fresno, 95 degrees in the sacramento valley. high pressure for one more day and it will cranked up the temperatures that after that there are a few systems that will bring in some much cooler air especially into the weekend. overnight tonight we will see a couple of patches of fog developing towards the media coastline. mostly clear inside the bay and pretty nice weather as we head through tomorrow. temperatures will be the story for tomorrow.
